2020: pessimism vs optimism

January 5, 2021 Houston Texas We will remember the year 2020 - the beginning of the decade - for how different it is from other years. We live very disturbing events; but, they caused very shocking and unprecedented actions that we will remember for a long time. The coronavirus pandemic is the cause of all the ills that afflict us today, leaving in its wake more than twenty million people infected with Covid-19, and to this day, a lethal trail of almost one million eight hundred thousand victims throughout our planet earth. Among other consequences of the pandemic, we witnessed the collapse of the economies of all the countries of the world, some more than others; more poorer people and a few richer; confinement of people with uncertain consequences for young people, who have the greatest negative impact on their educational processes at all levels. Experts say that we have lost a decade of our experiences and learnings. In the regions of the world where famines can occur, they can translate into violent events, as people need to bring food to the table of their homes. I have only made reference to two or three consequences of the pandemic, of the many that we are suffering. But on the other hand, this unprecedented tragedy has struck a chord with the great majority of good and resilient people, who have accelerated their inner and intellectual evolution, to create new solutions to unknown problems. We are seeing inner growth in people; we are seeing new companies with new approaches to new needs; technological solutions planned for the next decades have accelerated their implementation; the environment has shown us that we are responsible for global warming, and that therefore the time has come to make up for what we have done wrong. In this regard, a change in the approach of the United States government is required, which, everything indicates, that it can be achieved as of January 20, 2021. The use of virtual computer systems, to carry out office work or school education from home, has taken a huge leap in its implementation. Perhaps the most used are meetings with work, family and friends. Experts assure that office work, as we know it today, will not be the same in the future: people will be able to work from anywhere in the world, and the office spaces that we used will no longer be necessary. During the year 2020, personally and with my wife we ​​have had very interesting personal growth; and as soon as we entered confinement, we produced this virtual magazine "HEROS", whose journalistic material is the source for the virtual book "2020: a year to be forgotten?", with images and opinion content, on the topics of the Pandemic, the Environment, Immigration and Corruption, to be published this January. 2020 has been the darkest year in recent times, but as we can see, the world is fighting tenaciously using all the tools we have, to get out of this pandemic and its ills, as new people and of course stronger, to face that bright future that awaits us.
